JOB OPPORTUNITY
Candidate Must Be A Smart, Fresh, Energetic
AN IN DEPTH INTRO
YOUNG - FRESH - ENERGETIC
On many occasions we have seen advertisements such as;
"We require fresh young person to run our sales / marketing /IT department etc. OR such and such organization is in need of energetic young male/female."
Here the advertiser, in most circumstances, is compartmentalizing the age bracket to mean 20 to 30 year old and telling those in plain words who are above this age group: TO STAY THE HELL AWAY FROM APPLYING.
Mostly in Pakistan the recruiters/HR managers are conditioned to believe that anyone above age 35 is old, outdated, lethargic and good for nothing. Which I would term is gross crime.
If you analyze
closely you have a different picture emerging altogether.
Here is why it is stated this;
A 40 or 50 years old
man or a woman can both come under the category of YOUNG, FRESH and ENERGETIC.
In fact, they may be able to work longer hours, move around much faster, think
& contribute twice as much and better and stay on in the organization
longer than an average youth of today. Plus they never run out of Fresh Ideas
:)
In a nutshell, It is
very unfortunate that certain segment of our society are being labeled as youth
while the definition of youth is very ambiguous. For example there are 25 year
olds who are physically unfit and mentally retarded to even perform easy tasks
given to them while there are 50 year young’s who are perfectly sound of their
physical and mental well-being and perform any task given to them with utmost
dedication. But in Pakistan very few understand this concept.
So now, let it ask to
all those recruiters who so boldly display this type of ad: What is your
definition of young, fresh and energetic ???
If this particular piece of writing in anyway helped you redefine the limits of
your imagination and facilitated you to think outside the BOX then try to
correct your HR recruitment guidelines and spread the message to your senior
management in the top meetings so as to change their minds too. For every good
deed you do and forward, Allah will repay you much better in kind
Keep on Learning... Stay Blessed!
